Brian
Shans
Assistant Varsity/Junior Varsity Coach
Brian Shans has been involved in
volleyball for several years, including playing in church
volleyball leagues during high school and intramural leagues at
East Central University. Several years ago he played
volleyball with the Jenks Public Schools teams for the Corporate
Challenge tournament. This will be his eighth year of coaching volleyball
at Jenks. The first four years he co-coached the Jenks 9th
Grade Volleyball teams. For the past three years he coached the JV
team and assisted with varsity team.
After the school volleyball season was
over, Coach Shans was the coach for the Team Tulsa 14-Elite club
volleyball team. His team showed progress through the season
and won several medals, including 1st place in gold
and 1st place in silver at two tournaments.
Besides being a
coach, Coach Shans has taught secondary science for the past 15
years. This year he is teaching 9th grade biology at
the Jenks Freshman Academy. He is a member of the Freshman
Academy Technology Team and the FAHS Awards Committee.
Coach
Shans has a 10-year-old son, Isaac, who will be a fourth grader at Jenks West
Elementary.
Coach Shans
looks forward to another season of Jenks volleyball.
